In an article I read entitled "Playing Relationship Chess" which was written by Kevin Chappell, he talked about a moment in his life where he heard a scream in a mall. He followed the loud shriek. When he reached the area where the scream came, he ended up at a jewelry store. In that store he saw a girl having her ear pierced. That girl was only around 3 years old. What bothered him was that, while the little girl was screaming, the mother told tried to comfort the daughter and said "Don't you want to look pretty?"
That also bothered me. Do women really need to have their ear pierced just so they would look beautiful? Do women really need to do whatever they can just to look attractive? In my opinion, they don't. Physical beauty will fade away through the years but inner beauty won't. Physical beauty does have a plus when it comes to attraction but if one must only look at the physical attributes of a person, the relationship would most likely be short. Just like one of my friend who only courted a girl because she was beautiful. He didn't look beyond the girls skin. He did not know that the girl, sorry for the term, was a bitch. Their relationship ended up in the dumps.
Chappell said in his blog, "While looking pretty is nice, it can provide a woman with a false sense of security and a man with a false sense of accomplishment. Until both men and women begin to give more attention and more importance to a woman's inner beauty. Both sides will lose."
In order to have a good relationship, both the men and the woman must value each other not only through the looks but also through their character. Both sides must be able to value each others thoughts and opinion. They must be able to work their way out of a problem. Both sides must be able to uplift each other during hard times. Even if one does not look that attractive, if they are able to possess the qualities mentioned. Their relationship would most likely bloom and last longer than expected.
